Winterization: How to drain vacuum breaker to prevent freeze damage Here is a 10 Step Simple Process to drain vacuum breaker to prevent freeze damage.
Step 1
First go to controller and turn on first zone manual to start system running.
Step 2
Find main shut off valve, you will here water running thru pipe.
Step 3
Turn main shut off valve so it is perpendicular with the pipe.
Step 4
Go to vacuum breaker and with standard screw driver open both test cocks.
Step 5
Second test cock open.
Step 6
Remove lower drain cap or open hose spigot.
Step 7
Turn ball valve to 45 degree angle to not trap water.
Step 8
Turn ball valve to 45 degree angle to not trap water.
Step 9
Turn controller back to off position.
Step 10
